It is important to follow all the instructions and guidelines given by the expert team before and after the hair transplant surgery.
Some of the instructions which are important before the hair transplant surgery includes:
Some medications can adversely affect the hair transplant procedure, the aftercare process, or they can interact with the medications that are prescribed/recommended by your surgeon for recovery. Specifically, Aspirin or any medicine that has an anti-inflammatory effect should not be taken at least 2 weeks before your hair transplant. You should also avoid or stop taking the following drugs before your procedure:
Medicines prescribed to you to treat high blood pressure
Antidepressants
Blood-thinners
Beta-blockers
You would be forgiven for thinking that taking a multivitamin before your surgery may well have positive effects on the procedure itself and your recovery. However, multi-vitamins can disrupt natural processes. We recommend that you avoid taking multi-vitamins for at least 2 weeks before your hair transplant procedure date.
Shampoo may contain chemicals. Which will be harmful during surgery and can be infectious after the surgery. So, approximately 2-3 days before hair transplant surgery do not apply any type of chemical, gel, or shampoos to your hair. Or before applying it you can take proper guidance from your hair transplant expert.
You must stop smoking at least24 hours before your hair transplant surgery. The longer the period of smoking cessation the better. This is because smoking and the use of tobacco-related products have an overwhelmingly negative impact on our health and will affect recovery time, as well as curtailing the body’s ability to heal itself. Furthermore, you mustn't continue smoking for AT LEAST one week after your procedure has been completed. It can be stressful undergoing any sort of procedure but fight the urge to turn to tobacco.
As is the case with tobacco, alcohol has a severe effect on our body’s natural healing process and will slow it down, thereby increasing your recovery time. A period of alcohol cessation of 3 days is recommended, however, one week is ideal; the longer the better!
Most of the time when you are going to have a medical procedure you are told NOT to eat. However, hair transplantation is not the best procedure. It's one of the few exceptions where you SHOULD eat something. I recommend getting food into you at least one hour before you arrive at the clinic.
These were some procedures that need to be followed before hair transplantation from the patient's perspective. But there are also some instructions which include steps that need to be followed by the experts and team of hair transplant. Some of these instructions and steps are listed below.
